Nerve Pain & Injury Treatment

Nerves mainly act to transmit messages around the body, rather like a telephone system. They allow us to feel things and move our muscles. Nerve pains have to be checked out and treated fast as the pressure on the nerve can potentially cause severe weakness to the muscles and may become permanent.

  • Ability to walk longer
  • Lifting items safely with minimal or no pain
  • Increase Sitting/Standing times
  • Ease of mobility from sitting to standing, and getting out of bed without pain
  • Decreased or no feeling of numbness or tingling sensation
  • Decreased burning sensation
  • Good night’s sleep

For most nerve impingement or compression issues, the number of sessions needed will depend on the site and severity of nerve damage. More complex issues may need more sessions. However, most of the time this improvement can be achieved within 6 – 7 sessions. If you have a serious condition or a progressively worsening condition, your course of rehabilitation may take longer.

Sometimes, your condition may rapidly get better, and you may notice a significant decrease in pain, range of motion, and strength within 3 – 4 sessions of physical therapy.

Once your symptoms are relieved and you are able to perform basic strengthening exercises, we have a return-to-sports program where our in-house personal coaches and physiotherapists collaborate to customise a plan for you. This will be done in our fully-equipped gym facility and it is tailored according to your specific needs.

The focus of these sessions is to work on increasing physical activity and gradually work towards the goal of returning to work or your favourite sport. The Back Pain Core Stabilisation Program assists patients with sciatica to regain normal core muscle control. Other more advanced programs can include stability exercises and equipment such as a Swiss exercise ball. Please ask your physiotherapist for their advice.
